Generational Curses? Every generational curse is broke at the Cross
There is such a magnitude of confusing thought existing today in relation to generational curses that it is vitally important we carefully examine the subject from a scriptural perspective. Most of the error in regard to generational curses emanates from (probably) well-intentioned, yet wrongly-taught, elements within Charismatic Christian circles that claim to be authorities on the matter. Through false teaching and misguided counsel they have led many liberated believers back into the land of bondage with their unscriptural instruction. False teaching in relation to generational curses is becoming a major issue among many Christians. Most of the misunderstanding that emanates from these teachers flows from a basic fundamental failure to differentiate between God's dealings with the righteous and His dealings with the wicked.
This generational curses teaching is particularly emphasised in relation to the subject of Freemasonry and other associated secret socieies, especially in respect of the children, grand children, great grand children and great great grand children of Freemasons. Because of this accident of birth, they say, the individual is under a generational curse. Notwithstanding, most of the teaching is grossly unscriptural and creates much confusion and spiritual bondage to a believer who has been freed from every generational curse at the Cross. Not only do these individuals teach that a Christian is still under a curse (even after being truly saved) if their parent, grand parent or great grand parent were a Mason, but they also amazingly compel all Christians in their audience to submit themselves to these man-made unscriptural de-cursing sessions.
Whilst there is no doubt that a born again believer can individually bring himself under God's chastisement by walking in defiant disobedience and wanton sin, a liberated born again Christian walking in the Spirit is no longer under condemnation. We are not responsible for, or subject to, the sins of his fathers or the generational consequences of his family blood-line. The reality is: we are all the result of circumstances and influence. Only a fool would deny we take traits, characteristics, habits and attitudes from our lineage. This is because of our Adamic blood. We inherit our sinful nature from our family blood-line.
There is only one cure for this blight upon mankind – the Cross of Jesus Christ. Placing our faith and trust in Christ is the only way a sinner can be liberated and freed from all the natural bondage and dysfunctionality we inherit from our parents. In salvation we give Him our sin, shame, guilt, bondage and every curse; He then removes our past and we enter into a personal relationship with a holy God. He gives us His perfect righteousness to cover our shame. Whatever junk we have inherited in the natural can only be overcome by the blood of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. A new born Christian is transformed from loving sin (his old nature) to loving righteousness (his new nature).
Comforting news is found in Romans 8:1-2, which says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."
Every generational curse is broke at the Cross.
