Brook of Egypt

Sometimes translated as the "River of Egypt", it separated the land of Egypt from the land of Canaan.  Many have read the phrase, "River of Egypt" and assumed that it means the Nile River. It does not, although on the surface it's easy to understand why it may seem that way - since the Nile is the most famous river in Egypt.  A look at the original Hebrew text will help us to better understand what The Bible is saying.  There are a few different Hebrew words meaning river, stream, brook or wadi.  Here, we will look at three of them:

Gn 15:18
In that day Yahweh made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

Nm 34:5
and the border shall turn about from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and the goings out of it shall be at the sea.

Jsh 15:4,47
4 and it passed along to Azmon, went out at the brook of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. This shall be your south border.
47 Ashdod, its towns and its villages; Gaza, its towns and its villages; to the brook of Egypt, and the great sea with its coastline.

1Kg 8:65
So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before Yahweh our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

Satan is very good in deceiving people!

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Can you see the Brook of Egypt? Do you believe God or Satan?

Genesis 15:18 In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt (the Brook of Egypt) unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

What does God say about Israel in Luke 21?

He says:

20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
